IncrediMail Social Connect – Facebook inside your IncrediMail!

The Facebook Social Connect Application is currently available! This feature allows you to connect to your personal Facebook account, so you can easily check your News Feed, and share photos and links with friends and family in just one click. How can I sign up for a Facebook account?

In order to use IncrediMail Social Connect, you need a Facebook Account. If you don’t have a Facebook account, please create one now:

  1. First visit the Facebook Homepage.
  2. Fill in the Facebook Signup form on the right side of the page with your personal details and then click the green 'Sign Up' button.
  3. Follow the instructions to complete your Facebook registration.


I already have a Facebook Account – how do I connect?

To connect to IncrediMail Social Connect, simply click the Facebook 'Connect' icon in the folder list (as marked below in red), and sign into your account.

Please explain the Folders in the Facebook Folder list

Using IncrediMail's Social Connect, you can now view your Facebook News Feed, Wall, and Photo Albums (as well as all your Friends') right in your main IncrediMail window!

To view each, please click on the ' Facebook ' icon in your Folder List; the 'News Feed' will automatically open and you can then browse each folder by clicking on it:

 

'News Feed' - allows you to view (and filter) all the following:

  • 'All posts' - All your Friends' public activity
  • 'Photos' - Photos posted by your Friends
  • 'Videos' - Videos posted by your Friends
  • 'Links' - Links posted by your Friends
  • 'Status' - Your Friends' Status Updates

'My Profile'– will allow you to view your Wall and Photo Albums.

1. Under the 'Wall' tab, you can update your Status (by typing in the 'What's on your mind?' box (and then pressing 'Share'), or filter by the following:

  • 'All posts' - All activity on your Wall
  • 'Photos' - Photos posted to your Wall
  • 'Videos' - Videos posted to your Wall
  • 'Links' - Links posted to your Wall
  • 'Status' - Your Status Updates

2. Clicking on the 'Photos' tab allows you to choose and view your Facebook Photo Albums, just like on the Facebook site.

'Photos'– will allow you to view all your Facebook albums, view individual photos, and even comment or 'Like' them.


'Friends'– lists all your Friends, as well as providing a Search through your Friends List ('My Friends') or all of Facebook ('Everyone').

  • Clicking on a Friend's Name, Photo, or Activity will load their Facebook 'Wall' and 'Photos' tabs.
  • When you do so, an Account icon with their name will appear at the bottom of the Facebook Folder List (below 'Friends').
  • This icon will change according to the Facebook User you viewed last.

 

How do I use the basic Wall features (Share, Filter, etc)?

Similar to your Facebook Wall, you have the option to update your Status, as well as the added feature of filtering your posts!

To Share (update your Status) simply type in the 'What’s on your mind?' text box, and click 'Share' (marked in red below).

Clicking any of the 'Filters' icons changes to view to only items of that type - 'All Posts', 'Photos', 'Videos', 'Links', or 'Status' (marked in blue).

Clicking the 'Filter' (funnel symbol, marked in green) icon next to any post allows you to view only items posted by you (or the Friend/Facebook User you’re viewing).

To refresh your view, simply click 'Refresh' inside the News Feed folder.

Can I adjust the size (zoom) of my Facebook view?

You cab easily adjust your Facebook view to a comfortable size by using the 'Zoom' feature, located in the upper right-hand corner of the 'News Feed' folder.

Simply click the '+' or '-' icon until you reach your desired size.

Please Note: The Zoom can only be adjusted from the New Feed folder.

 

If you want IncrediMail to remember the viewing size, please do the following:

  1. Click the IncrediMail 'Tools' menu (marked in red) and then 'Options' (marked in blue).

  2. Under the 'Emails' tab (marked in red), click the 'Facebook Settings...' button (marked in blue).

  3. In the 'Facebook Settings' dialog, make sure 'Remember Zoom' (marked in red), is checked.

How do I search for and view my Friends’ Walls?

To view a Friend’s Wall, simply click the 'Friends' folder (marked in red), and then choose your Friend.

To search through your Friends list, or all of Facebook, simply type the person’s name into the Friends 'Search' box (as shown below in red), and press the 'My Friends' or 'Everyone'. Results will appear under the 'Search Results' tab.

Clicking on a Friend’s Name, Profile Image, or anything they have posted will open a new Folder below your 'Friends' folder. From here you can view their Wall (or Photo Albums) just as you would your own.

To return to your Profile, click the 'Back to my Profile' button (marked below in red) in the top right-hand corner of the window, or click the 'My Profile' folder.

How do I disconnect from Facebook in IncrediMail?

You can disconnect from your Facebook account in two ways:

  1. Simply right-click on 'Facebook' in the Folder List, and choose 'Disconnect' (marked in red).

  2. Click the 'Tools' menu (marked in red) in the main IncrediMail window and then 'Options' (marked in blue).

  3. Under the 'Emails' tab (marked in red), click the 'Facebook Settings...' button (marked in blue).

  4. From the 'Facebook Settings' dialog, click 'Disconnect' (marked in red).

When connecting, the wrong Facebook account appears.

If the Facebook user that appears when connecting is not yours, simply click 'Not You' next to your name at the bottom of the 'Request for Permission' page.

If the account connects automatically, or if this does not work, please first disconnect from Facebook in IncrediMail.

Then log out of your Facebook account in the Internet Explorer browser and attempt to reconnect in IncrediMail again.


I don’t use Facebook - can I hide the Facebook features in IncrediMail?

To remove the Facebook icon from your Folder List, simply do the following:

  1. Click the IncrediMail 'Tools' menu (marked in red) and then 'Options' (marked in blue).

  2. Under the 'Emails' tab (marked in red), click the 'Facebook Settings...' button (marked in blue).

  3. In the 'Facebook Settings' dialog, remove the check any features you wish to hide.
